My Wife's Plants Get the app

It's one person answering, so give it a day or two — but it'll be me.

Common questions

My reminders aren't arriving
  • Check Away mode in Settings — it silences everything on purpose. Turning it off re-arms the lot.
  • iOS Settings → Notifications → My Wife's Plants. Watch for Scheduled Summary and Focus modes holding them back.
  • Reminders fire at the hour you chose, on the day a plant is due. An overdue plant waits for that hour rather than buzzing the second you open the app — deliberate, so coming home never sets off a burst.
I subscribed but Plant AI is still locked

Connect to the internet, then open Settings → Subscribe to Plant AI → Restore purchases. That re-checks with the App Store for an active subscription. If Settings already says Plant AI is on, check the usage allowance shown there and reopen the app.

If it doesn't, make sure you're signed into the Apple ID that made the purchase — it's under Media & Purchases in iOS Settings, which isn't always the same as your iCloud account. Still stuck? Email me.

I reinstalled the app. Where did everything go?

An active subscription can be restored with Settings → Subscribe to Plant AI → Restore purchases, using the Apple Account that bought it.

Your plants are stored locally and won't return just by restoring a purchase. Use Settings → Restore from backup if you exported a file. A device backup may also contain app data, depending on your iOS backup settings. I don't keep a server copy of your collection to recover.

How do I cancel, or get a refund?

Cancel: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → My Wife's Plants. The Plant AI is on row in the app opens subscription management too. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. For Apple's current steps, see how to cancel a subscription.

Refund: Apple handles the money, so refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com. I can't issue them. If something's broken, email me anyway — I'd like to fix it.

Moving to a new phone

Old phone: Settings → Export backup, then send the file to yourself however you like. New phone: install, then Settings → Restore from backup and choose that file.

Restoring replaces everything currently in the app. The file holds your plants, photos and notes and is not encrypted by the app, so treat it as private. Export the new phone's existing collection first if you want to keep a copy.

I've used my free AI allowances

Everything except the AI features carries on exactly as before. You can still add plants by searching the built-in list of 252 — they come with the same hand-written care and feeding guides — and every reminder, schedule and backup keeps working offline, forever, free.

The three free photo identifications, three chat messages, three AI care profiles and three feeding lookups, and the one free try each of the sunlight spot check, Is it sick? and Meet your collection, are one-time allowances, not monthly refills. They are tracked against the app's subscriber identifier and aren't included in a backup. A monthly or yearly subscription adds AI access with monthly usage limits shown in the app before purchase: currently 40 photo identifications, 300 chat messages, 30 sunlight checks, 30 sick-plant checks and 10 collection readings a month, plus 200 AI care profiles and 100 feeding lookups for plants outside the built-in guides.

Plant AI isn't responding, or says I've reached a limit

AI features need internet access. Check your connection and the allowance shown under Settings → Plant AI. Monthly allowances reset at the start of a calendar month in UTC, rather than on your subscription billing date.

If the app asks you to wait, retry later: temporary service or rate limits can also apply. Your saved plants, guides and reminders keep working offline. Email support with the error message if the problem continues.

Is the plant identification always right?

No. When it isn't sure it shows you a ranked list instead of guessing quietly, and any care figure that looks implausible gets thrown out in favour of the built-in data. It can still be wrong.

Please don't rely on it for pet or child safety. If toxicity matters, check an authoritative source before the plant comes in the house.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a plant and its photo, history and conversation go with it. Delete the app to remove its local plant data. Offloading the app keeps its data. Exported backups and iOS device backups must be deleted separately if you want those copies removed too.

Usage records, temporary subscription and rate-limit records, and any support correspondence are separate from your local collection. Deleting the app doesn't erase provider records or cancel a subscription. How to request access or deletion.

Do I need an account?

No, and there isn't one to make — including if you subscribe. No email, no password, nothing to sign into.

Found a security problem?

Email support@mywifesplants.app and please give me a fair window to fix it before publishing. I'll confirm I've got it and keep you posted.
